My Skin is constantly dry and dehydrated. What is the best treatment for this?
A gentle enzyme facial or dermaplaning with the Rejuvenate Oxygen Infusion is the best treatment for plumping and firming dehydrated skin. You'll feel a difference after one treatment, with noticable improvement after a series. We can also discuss your homecare regimen, and see if there is room for improvement.
Who would benefit from a corrective peeling treatment?
Anyone who suffers from acne, hyper-pigmentation, rosacea, melasma, fine lines and wrinkles, and sun damage. By encouraging sloughing of the dead epidermal layers of the skin, the skin will respond by producing new, healthier cells. A client assessment form will be done first, to discuss health history and rule out any contraindications. Peels should not be done on anyone with Aspirin/Salicylic allergies, Accutane users, anyone pregnant or nursing, or on broken, sunburned or infected skin.
Does a peel burn, and will I be red when I leave?
Sensitivity varies with each client. Variables to consider are; how well the skin is prepped prior to treatment, and the health and hydration of the skin. Some clients will experience a slight tingling or heat with a peel application, which should dissipate quickly. Some skin may be slightly pink, looked tanned and tight, or like nothing was done when the treatment is over. On day two the skin will feel tight and dry. On days 3-5 a light to moderate sloughing will occur, and may take a full week to complete.
How do I take care of my skin after the peel?
During the week after a peel, gentle cleansers should be used with no AHA's, scrubs or brushes. Keeping the skin hydrated with a heavier moisturizing balm will help. During the peeling phase and for a week after, clients must avoid sun exposure. Wearing sunblock and a loose hat is a must, to maximize and prolong the results. It is best to avoid heat from showers, saunas, intense workouts like heated yoga, and hot cars. Makeup may be worn after the first day. Most importantly, Don't pick!! Sloughing will take place when the skin is ready, and by assisting this process, you can cause scarring and pigmentation. You may resume your normal regimen when the peel process is complete.
Can waxing, laser services, or injectables be done with peels?
It is best to wait 2 weeks after waxing and sometimes up to 4 weeks with certain lasers before doing a peel if having these services done in the same areas. Injectables may be done on the same day before the peel, but it is best to wait 24 hours. Outstanding results have been achieved when you prep the skin for a laser service by doing the peel 4-6 weeks prior.
I'd like to look my best for a big event coming up. What is the best way to ensure a healthy glow?
I always recommend doing a thorough consult to determine how much time and correction we need to tackle with each person's skin. I love doing a series of three peels in preparation for weddings and reunions, so that the skin has a youthful radiance. Some complexions need little maintanance in between treatments, while others may require some corrective retinols, brighteners and bleach. A little eyebrow shaping and wax may be just the lift a face needs. A few tricks with a great mineral makeup can do wonders concealing blemishes and highlighting individual assets. The results are always worth the effort you'll invest!
